Introducing the Listening Technology Lab!

Welcome to the new website for the Listening Technology Lab!

Established in 2023, the lab focuses on technologies to enhance and augment human hearing. The research group is part of both the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering at the University of Illinois Chicago and the Discovery Partners Institute, a Chicago-based innovation hub operated by the University of Illinois System and dedicated to equitable economic development. The lab is directed by Dr. Ryan M. Corey, Assistant Professor of Electrical and Computer Engineering at UIC and Research Scientist at DPI, who joined UIC in January 2023 and previously helped lead the Augmented Listening Laboratory at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign.

This year, we welcomed our first UIC graduate student, Rashen Fernando; began our first sponsored research project, part of the C-NICE center at UIUC; and began renovations on our experimental lab on the UIC East Campus, which is expected to be completed next spring. We are looking forward to more growth in 2024!
