The Listening Technology Lab is a research group developing technologies to change the way people experience the world through sound.

The lab was established in 2023 as a joint effort between the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering at the University of Illinois Chicago and the Discovery Partners Institute, a new Chicago-based innovation hub led by the University of Illinois System and dedicated to equitable economic development and use-inspired research. The lab is led by Ryan M. Corey, who is an Assistant Professor of Electrical and Computer Engineering at UIC and a Research Scientist at DPI.

The Listening Technology Lab is closely connected to the Illinois Augmented Listening Laboratory at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign. That group was led by Dr. Corey, who is now with UIC and DPI, and Andrew C. Singer, who is now Dean of the College of Engineering and Applied Sciences at Stony Brook University. The Augmented Listening Lab team continues to collaborate across the three campuses.
